My experience cuts across skill sets (visual design, UX, copywriting), disciplines (brand/product development, marketing) and environments (agency, startup, studio owner). I’ve taken an interesting road that’s afforded a 360º view of both digital and traditional media terrain. I possess both the ability to lead cross-functional teams of designers, copywriters, and outside studios (coach), coupled with adept hands-on skills that allow me to execute on ideas (player).

I have an abiding love of “sequential art” that doesn’t particularly track with my demographic. (“Sequential art” sounds ever so much more grown up than “comics”, no?) Mutant superheroes were my gateway drug in grad school, but my tastes have broadened over the years. What I’m reading and loving right now: Saga, Hawkeye, Harbinger, Walking Dead. If they write it, I read it: Craig Thompson, Brian K. Vaughn, Chris Ware, Art Spiegelman, Neil Gaiman, Dave McKean, Joss Whedon
A 14-year pastime that continues to ensure my escape from NYC winters to warmer climes from the Caribbean to the Great Barrier Reef. And, no, I don’t take photos or document my dives. Diving for me is about being present in the moment. There’s so much to absorb and I think being trapped behind a load of extra gear gets in the way of that. Favorite Spots: Turks & Caicos… Roatan, Honduras Aspirations: Galapogos, Red Sea
I know. I know. Who doesn’t like to travel? I think what I like best is how sometimes just a day surrounded by different geometry can be exactly the thing to re-charge my creative batteries and shift perspective. It’s like cross-training for your brain. Recently: A Colorado dude ranch, several weeks in Switzerland for a wedding, and Devon for a beach holiday with friends. Coming up: Berlin! (In the hopes of putting my college German to better use.)
I’ve lived in Lower Manhattan in the same neighborhood for eighteen years. It’s funny how you can leave a place because it feels too small (Ohio) then grow to love a place precisely because you’ve made it small yourself. I love living across the street from tall ships, surrounded by the history of the South Street Seaport.
